HORTICULTURE FOR HLTH (EVS170)

(08/17/2022-12/09/2022)

Course Memo

Prerequisite: None. This course is designed to give a broad overview of horticulture as a form of physical and mental exercise through native plant management on campus including concepts, theory, and research. Gardening as a form of exercise for both physical and mental health is not a new field, but one in which many students have little to no experience. Managing native plants to promote physical and mental health merges topics of biodiversity conservation and human well-being. Students will participate in various outdoor activities using basic gardening tools, primarily on the Eureka College campus and will be required to develop a health behavior change plan to demonstrate capability in Health, Fitness, & Well-Being.
