THE BOY CRISIS (ECC290)

(01/17/2024-05/07/2024)

Course Memo

Prerequisite: None. In the last decade or so, parents, activists, psychologists, sociologists, and social workers have identified a "Boy Crisis." Boys, they argue, are growing up in a confusing, hostile, and contradictory world that is doing them harm. People point to video game and porn addiction, bullying, gun culture, dropping male college enrollment and completion rates, attention deficit disorder, binge drinking, and suicide rates as indicators of the problem. In this course, students will assess and describe the boy crisis using credible sources and offer potential amelioratives for it. Analytical Inquiry and Problem Solving Capability course. (Offered in alternate years)
