Course Section Description

The Perils of Indifference: The goals of this class are to think about how apathy and silence are unsatisfying responses to injustice, to practice the skill of reading thought-provoking books and articulating ideas with one another, and to grow as attentive, intelligent, reasonable and responsible people who consider how individual flourishing is not independent from that of my neighbor. The first part of the class will survey texts and ideas from people who model what caring deeply about justice looks like. During the second part of the semester, we’ll focus specifically on the issue of homelessness in the United States.
